Summary:
The CNC Programmer/Machinist is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes. This role involves interpreting engineering drawings and instructions, programming machine controls, and performing thorough inspections of finished parts to ensure compliance with specifications.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities:
Program and set up CNC mills and lathes based on oral instructions, prints, and drawings
Enter programs and all necessary parameters into machine controls of CNC mill and lathe
Perform inspections of finished parts to ensure compliance with specifications
Complete jobs independently with no supervision
Achieve and maintain an advanced level of productivity
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum 3 years of related job experience
Trade school certification
Advanced machining course or equivalent training
Mastercam experience
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Ability to operate CNC mills and lathes
Ability to use inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and depth mics
Skills:
CNC programming and machine operation
Blueprint reading and interpretation
Precision measurement and quality inspection
Problem-solving and independent decision-making
Moderate reading comprehension for instructions and memos
Clear communication with supervisors and team members
Mathematical skills sufficient for programming and machine operations
Basic PC operation and file management
Physical Demands: This role requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 80 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout a warehouse/production environment for extended periods.
Employment Type: This is a full-time, temp-to-hire position. A 60-day evaluation period applies, after which the position may convert to permanent employment.
